Lunch/Allergies
  • Sunrise School is a peanut/nut free zone. The reason for this policy is that
there are a significant number of students in attendance that have severe
peanut/nut allergies. If exposed to peanuts/nuts, these students could
develop life-threatening allergic reactions that require emergency medical
    treatment.
o Please do not send any peanut or nut containing products for your child to eat
during snack in the classroom or at lunch. Any exposure to peanuts or nuts
through contact or ingestion can cause asevere reaction.
o If your child has eaten peanuts or nuts prior to coming to school, please be
sure your child’s hands have been thoroughly washed prior to entering the
    school.
o Healthy snacks and treats are available at our student-operated cafés and
stores, such as nut-free granola bars, muffins, and juices. You can
participate in helping us promote healthy eating among our students by
    sending healthy snacks.

Dress code

o Students must arrive at school clean and tidy, wearing appropriate clothing and accessories.
o Clothing, hats, and accessories should be respectful of all racial, religious,
and ethnic backgrounds. Items depicting violence, religious symbols, profanity, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or any provocative, morbid, or gang-related themes are not allowed.

o In cases where attire is deemed inappropriate by the administration, students may be sent home or provided with suitable clothing.
o Closed-toed shoes are highly recommended. We do understand that some
students will refuse to wear shoes that are closed-toed. If this is the case, please send a note to your child’s teacher. We are here to help.

Cell phone and electronic policy

Student-owned electronic devices, including cell phones, tablets, gaming devices, smartwatches, and personal laptops, are not permitted to be used during school hours unless explicitly authorized by staff.

o Outside of authorized times, all cell phones and electronic devices must be turned off and securely stored in your child’s backpack.
o Any form of recording or capturing images of other students or staff members requires written consent from all parties involved. Failure to comply will result in disciplinary action.

o The sound or vibration of a cell phone during class disrupts the learning environment and detracts from instruction time. While we understand the importance of cell phones for safety, please refrain from contacting your child during school hours unless it is an emergency. In case of an urgent matter, please call (818) 781-0360 and request to speak with your child’s
administrator.
